There are some politicians who have spent their entire lives preparing to be president, or a congressperson, governor, etc., and many others who would, upon being given the opportunity to lead, suddenly want to catch-up and read everything they can get their hands on, talk to everyone they can, and learn as much as possible. Certainly many of us do this at our own jobs upon getting a promotion or a new assignment, or even when taking up a new hobby. But Trump reads nothing, watches 6-8 hours of TV some days in the White House, often starts his work day at 10 or 11, and apparently doesn’t know what he doesn’t know. Staff are able to postpone policy decisions for weeks at a time just by taking a draft letter off Trump’s desk because he has no to-do list anywhere in writing or in his head, and he will forget. Trump did almost no preparation for this job, and continues not to prepare on a daily basis.
